The Whisperer in Darkness is a screen adaptation of the classic tale by the horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Folklore professor Albert Wilmarth starts to investigate rumors of strange creatures that dwell in some remote hills of Vermont. He corresponds with an inhabitant of that area who sends him proof of these alien creatures. He sounds more and more agitated until his tone suddenly calms down. Professor Wilmarth then starts to take matters in his own hands and answers to his correpondent invitation to visit him in Vermont.Of course, things turn out to be more complicated that it seems at first and as the tension grows, some moments of real horror start to appear.
